Regionals Recap

Jojah qualifies for Nationals

Earning a bid for Nationals is one thing. Winning that bid is an entirely different thing. But despite the adversity, Jojah persevered at Regionals in Tallahassee to claim their spot in the Nationals field in Milwaukee.

The adversity began Saturday morning during warm-ups, when Tyler Haskell went down with a hyper-extended knee. He was out for the entirety of the weekend and is hopeful for Nationals.

Jojah took care of business in their pre-quarters game against Florida-B, winning 15-7. Next up was Tulane in the quarters. Jojah got off to a quick start against Rex, leading 7-4. As the wind picked up, Rex through a zone that Jojah struggled against. Tulane took half 8-7. Jojah struggled to find offensive flow and Tulane won 11-8.

This dropped Jojah to one of the backdoor brackets. They finished the day, which was called early due to thunderstorms, against LSU easily defeating them 15-8.

Sunday morning came, and the Dawgs opened against Tennessee. Jojah pulled away late to win 14-8. The win setup a showdown with Florida. The Dawgs settled in, pressuring Florida’s resets on D and took care of business on offense. They held off a late run by the Gators to win, setting up a rematch against Tulane.

Coming off an emotionally and physically demanding game, Jojah came out flat and spotted Rex a 4-0 lead. Picking up the intensity, the Dawgs worked methodically through the zone that had stifled them 24 hours earlier. Despite a late run, Rex held on to win.

The loss setup the game-to-go against the winner of Florida and Auburn. Auburn made a late run to beat the Gators.

Demanding a sense of urgency, Jojah came out firing and did just enough late to win and clinch the final bid out of the Southeast. 11130219_922678384421671_6259562579803113996_n
